Aloha Kauai (Aloha means goodbye)
Here I sit. In the airport. Not on the beach. Not in the sun. Not with my feet in the sand. Just here. Exhausted. Aloha means goodbye. For the past couple weeks I’ve been on vacation. First stop: Los Angeles to see my Dad and where he lives. LA is sweet and I definitely want to go back and spend some more time there. I didn’t even hit the beach while we were there! I’m going back. Kauai was...

Do you like your privacy?
This is so sweet. Supposedly this is a real toilet located in Houston. No one can see you from the outside.. but it looks like everyone can from the inside! These need to be everywhere.

Just do your best to hear me. It’s all you can do.
If you know me at all, you probably wouldn’t imagine me doing homework on a saturday night. ..but imagine. That’s what I’m doing. Actually, Amy is sitting next to me blogging. So because I’m not jumping in excitement to right this 8 or 9 page research paper.. I thought I’d do the same. First of all were at leaf & bean listening to a pretty decent jazz combo. I miss Jazz a lot. Between...

How Far Are We Willing to Go?
Finally, when we could stand it no longer, we decided to stay alone in Athens, and we sent Timothy to visit you. He is our brother and God’s co-worker in proclaiming the Good News of Christ. We sent him to strengthen you, to encourage you in your faith, and to keep you from being shaken by the troubles you were going through. But you know that we are destined for such troubles. -1...

He calls
Aside from this blog, I also administrate and write for our Youth Ministry’s website c4revolution.org. It’s directed to a Jr High/Sr High audience. Feel free to hop on over there too! Jesus wants you to talk to other people about Jesus. Your friends from school. The one at the lunch table. The one you sit next to in class. The one you hang out with in school, but never outside of...

Phil Keaggy: Humility and Servanthood
In my last post I mentioned that I saw Phil Keaggy live at The Father’s House. Now I realized that just mentioning him was huge insult. If you don’t know who Keaggy is, he is notably one of the most skilled guitarists in the world. I’m no expert, but I’d call him the best. You may have heard the rumor that Jimi Hendrix was on a late night talk show and was asked the question: “How’s it feel...

Umm, sorry blogosphere.
Ok, so where the heck did February go? Today’s March 1st. Holy smokes. Well here’s a quick update on my life. Red Letter StatementWe spent a week at Bluebrick recordings in Avon with Jesse Sprinkle recording our new E.P, the Lighter. It was an incredible week. We spent a whole lot of time together, which was awesome for the most part. Of course we got on each others nerves, but for the...

hey andy,
I got to know Andy Warhol pretty well tonight. I have this one class which really bugs me. I have it 12 times. That’s it. Sounds sweet right? Not so much. I just found out a couple days ago that we had a big paper due at MIDNIGHT on a SATURDAY NIGHT. First of all, what a ridiculous due date. So I had a busy morning, had rgen training, a meeting at leaf and bean, and my voice lesson. Then I...

Trusting God takes Action
This is an idea that I have been struggling a lot with over the past few weeks. It’s called trusting God. A few weeks ago I made a decision that I wasn’t going to “push” anything in a few areas of my life. I said to God that I was going to leave it in his hands, and just live out my daily life hoping He would make things come into play. I don’t necessarily think this is wrong, but I may be...

Worship Roadtrip Day 3
Today was the third and final day of our stay in pennsylvania. First off this trip was a blast, and I’m so glad I could be apart of it. ok.. I was very happy to be woken up by Larry this time and not Krystal. What a better way to start your day! We arose and got all our stuff together and headed out. We got to church and had some bagels and doughnuts. I haven’t mentioned in the past few blogs...

Worship Roadtrip Day 2
So this it what went down day numero dos of our roadtrip to pennsylvania. I guess we were supposed to wake up around 7:30 or so, but we woke up to the annoying sound of krystals voice around 8:30. Once we got up and around we headed to the church. When we got there we worshipped God with a few songs while I played acoustic, and then I led a devotional. I talked about how we ultimately choose how...

Worship Roadtrip day 1
So we’re just about to crash after our first day in P.A. It’s been a lot of fun so far. First of all, we’re going down to Derry, PA to lead worship at our worship leader Larry’s church back home. Ironically, it’s called “The Fathers’ House Fellowship”.. and our church we serve at is called The Fathers’ House. We all met at Larry and Andrea’s this afternoon around 12 and loaded up our vehicles....

The Pedalboard
This has been my latest project. I’ve been working over the last couple months on putting together a pedalboard. For those who are clueless, this a rig that includes all my effects pedals and stompboxs to have in front of me while I play guitar. I used to have a Boss ME-50 guitar processor (which I’m selling btw) which was pretty nice, but you can get such better tones and customization out...

Going digital with Journaling
If you know anything about me, you probably know that I love to journal. Everyday for the past 2 years or so I’ve written down my thoughts, feelings, songs, prayers, and emotions onto paper. Sometimes they find their way onto this blog. For some reason doing this clears my brain from all the mess of things that are in there. Simply put: journaling organizes my unorganized mind. If you haven’t...

Reading the bible in 2009
I use YouVersion a lot. YouVersion is a revolutionary online bible. With this you can not only read the bible but you can share your thoughts on scripture with others, connect with content through youtube, and journal. They have this feature where you can read the bible in one year. Last year I wanted to do it, but I was intimidated. It’s a chapter a day in three different books in the...

Trans Siberian Orchestra 08
Every year it’s a tradition to go see the Trans Siberian Orchestra in concert with my Mom around Christmas. This was the fifth year we’ve gone and I was blown away by the difference from the last year to this year. They usually do a similar song order and stories every year, but this year they made a lot of changes. First off their new lighting system is AMAZING. They have LED lights behind the...

OH MY GOSH. I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t had to chance to blog too much. Or do much of anything but study and do homework and stuff. So I’m sorry. Not really for you…. but for me… because bloggings is one of my favorite things to do. Ok, now that that’s settled with… Finals week. putting urgency over importance
Mark Batterson blogged yesterday about something that I really struggle with. I struggle with growing in several areas at once. We often let one thing prioritize over the rest. It’s true though that somethings do matter more, but we must both weigh and balance urgency and importance. We work on what matters at the moment, but we leave an importance aspect on the back burner. And I’m...

Play rehearsals and damaged instruments
So for the last few months I have been rehearsing for our school’s production of “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat”. It’s pretty fun playing with the band.. but I wish the music was a little more fun. We’ve been having rehearsals crazy lately, every night from like 6:30-10. During these times you can imagine my equipment is been getting shuffled around ALOT....

No Worries
So often do we get into circumstances where we worry. We worry that we won’t be able to afford something, that we won’t succeed in what we want to do, or that we aren’t good enough. Or we worry that people we love would get saved. These are definitely things to be concerned with, but not to worry. Worrying and fearing is not of the Lord. This constant “what if, oh my”...

Worship Getaway
This past sunday was our first ever “worship getaway”. It was pretty awesome and we had a lot of people. It wasn’t quite what we expected (the cabin we had reserved got flooded with water), but we made the best of it. We hung out, ate some food, smashed each other in the snow, did some visioncasting and worshiped a bit. Really excited to roll out these worshiper training groups....

Memorizing Scripture
One of the things I feel like I have been lacking in is memorizing scripture. There is so much power in God’s word, and if we speak what it says I believe it has even more power. Ever since starting I have found that I can use what I’ve learned in prayer. This is what I have been committing to memory so far: Matthew 6.33- “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness...

Being the Difference
It is really horrible what some people do to other people. Why do people put down other people? Is it because people put them down too? Is their some chain of hate that just keeps on going? Who is going to stop it? Christians can stop it. Those who follow Christ can put an end to it. If we be the difference in the world, we can break the chain. With the power of Christ in us, which is love, we can...

r e s p e c t, this is what it means to me.
Everyone wants to be respected. No one likes being treated badly, they want to be treated like they deserve to be treated. God deserves our everything. He is so great and Mighty, and he has done so much for us in each of our lives. He conquered death for us, so that we may be full of life. He deserves the highest praise, glory, and honor. He deserves our respect, our love. We don’t deserve...

Get Yourself Together
A few weeks ago Craig Groeschel from the swerve blog talked about some of his favorite quotes. One that he mentioned has been ringing through my mind ever since. I’ll get back to that. I go a lot of places and interact with a lot of different people. Some people I see, talk to, and hang out with everyday. A lot of the time it’s not by choice, it’s just that our schedules seem to...
